e.l.f. Makeup Haul

I recently purchased quite a few products from the e.l.f. store online while they were having their Black Friday sale. The entire order I placed was 50% off, so products that are already incredibly affordable were cut in half. I just had to take advantage of this sale.

Most, if not all, the products I bought were suggested by a YouTuber named Kathleen Lights. I’m still relatively new to makeup, and I often find myself watching monthly favourites videos, where the YouTuber will discuss their most-loved products from any given month, as well as brand-specific haul videos.

Now let’s actually talk about these products!

The one I was actually most excited for the Prism Eyeshadow Palette in Naked.

It’s so shimmery. This palette was reviewed highly, so naturally I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Just from swatching it I can tell you it’s incredibly pigmented.

Having a neutral palette is something every makeup lover should have. It makes creating looks a breeze, and it’s also a classic way to achieve a beautiful eye look. Since this palette is composed entirely of shimmery shadows, however, you would need a few matte shades to even out the look. Or you could simply go for a wash of colour all over the lid. I myself am still experimenting.

20170106_015143I was also super pumped for the Moisturizing Lipstick I picked out, in the shade Ravishing Rose. I don’t usually wear pink lipstick unless it’s paired with the right eyeshadow. I find light pinks make me look sickly since I’m already pale. This berry colour intrigued me, and since I have so many reds in my collection, I decided to take a chance.

The next item was one of their Baked Eyeshadows in the shade Toasted. I’ve only worn this dry as I have never really experimented with baked eyeshadows before. This one too is so shimmery. I feel like these shadows are bringing out my inner Princess.
It’s a beautiful light brown colour, perfect for my hazel eyes, and to add to my collection of neutral shades. Since I used it dry, I simply circled my ring finger around a few times, and patted it onto my lid. It has beautiful colour pay off, I can’t wait to use it wet.

I also picked up a Baked Highlighter in the shade Moonlight Pearls. I’ve only swatched this one, I haven’t really found a time to test it out yet. I’m a sucker for really white, shiny highlighters, and this one is gorgeous.  One thing that I just had to have was their Cream Eyeshadow Smudge Pot in Gotta Glow. In addition to being a stand-alone cream eyeshadow, it was also recommended as an eyeshadow base. From the very first time I put this on my eyelid, I knew this was probably my best purchase from the entire haul.

Do you see how the colour is much more pigmented? I pressed the same amount of shadow onto each lid, then took a blending brush with a lighter colour and simply swept it into the crease. On the left eye, blending took most of the colour away, whereas on the right eye, it softened the edges.

I’m new to bronzing and contouring, and I feel as if I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it yet. Nonetheless, I figured I would grab this Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder while it was on sale. I chose the shade Figi because both powders are, to me, muted, and since I’m new to bronzing I didn’t want anything that was going to stand out too much. I also made sure to pick the matte palette; I don’t really like the idea of a shimmery bronzer.

Last but not least I bought a Small Tapered Brush, to go along with the bronzing palette. It’s very soft, and is the perfect size to define my cheeks.

And that concludes this mini haul! I will post links to all the products mentioned, as well as a link to the YouTuber who inspired this haul.

I would like to give credit to Kathleen Lights, who inspired this list. You can watch her makeup tutorials over on YouTube, and her own e.l.f. haul here.
