I bought quite a lot of makeup last year, most of them being drug store products from my local pharmacies, or Walmart. So of course, I was bound to stumble upon a few duds along the way. Here I will list three items that just didn’t work for me, for whatever reason.
These are my true opinions, and just because these didn’t make the cut for me, doesn’t mean that they won’t work for someone else. To each their own!
So let’s get to it.
This one actually hurts me a little. I love Hard Candy, another Walmart exclusive brand. Super affordable, and surprisingly well performing, Hard Candy was one of the first makeup brands I really started getting into. Every product I have bought so far has proved worthy of owning in my collection… except this one.
This felt tip liner, one of the few unique liners that Hard Candy features, has great pigmentation, and the interesting shape of the tip makes it seem as though it would be great for cat eyes, which it boasts right on the packaging. However, I could just never get it right, no matter how much I tried. It could just be me, because like I said, this liner is blackest black, and it shows up beautifully. I simply couldn’t make the felt tip work for me.
I think this product may be discontinued or out of stock, as I couldn’t find it on the brand’s website.
I picked this up at Walmart, and for those of you who don’t know, this is Drew Barrymore’s makeup line, sold exclusively at Walmart. The products are very affordable, and the packaging was just so cute, and feminine, that I had to try out this pen.
This turned out to be one of the worst eyeliners I have ever tried. The tip was so incredibly flimsy that I had no control whatsoever on the shape of the line I was creating. There was also a lack of pigmentation; I bought black, and instead it appeared washed out, and very streaky when applied. I tried this out a number of times, before simply giving up, and tossing it away.
My concealer was running low, and that one also happened on be another CoverGirl product, the Smoothers Under Eye Concealer. I figured I would give this one a try; the stick packaging caught my eye, and overall it looked really promising.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as I had hoped. As soon as I took the cap off to apply it, I noticed a veery chemically smell. It was somewhat overwhelming. I don’t particularly like products with fragrances, but this didn’t smell good at all. Overlooking this, keep began to apply it under my eye, and right away I could tell this was going to be hard to blend. It pushed against my skin, making it almost impossible to work with. Using my makeup sponge, I attempted to blend it into my skin, with no such luck. This was quite a disappointment for me.
