Travel Makeup Essentials

Since I went on an overnight trip to North Bay, I figured it would be a good opportunity to make a post about the makeup that I must take with me. These are my current favourites from each category, from mascara to highlight. I didn’t include any lip products, as I usually like to just keep my lips bare because I know I’ll be stopping for lunch somewhere and I like to avoid the hassle of reapplying.

I usually only bring 2 brushes with me, one for my pressed powder, that I bought from Walmart, and one for my blush and bronzer, an e.l.f. small tapered brush, that I featured in my latest haul post found here. For my foundation and concealer I use my beauty sponge, a knock off of the super popular Beauty Blender.

Foundation and Concealer

For my face I bring my favourite foundation from the drugstore, L’Oreal Paris’ True Match in the shade Natural Ivory. My under eye concealer, which I’m almost out of, is CoverGirl’s Smoothers Concealer Stick in the shade Fair. To set my face I use Maybelline’s Fit Me! Matte and Poreless Powder in the shade Porcelain. This powder is the best one I’ve found so far at the drugstore, as you can see from the photo I’ve hit pan.

Cheeks and Eyes

To complete my face, I turn to e.l.f’s Blush and Bronzer Palette in the shade Figi. I also featured this is my last article; a wonderfully matte palette that adds just enough warmth for a natural look. To highlight my cheeks I use Colourpop’s Pearlized Highlighter in the shade Yummy Cookies. This was part of the Hello Kitty collection and came in a bundle called Hello Pretty. So buttery and so shimmery, it gives me that little bit of glow that brightens up the whole face.

I like to keep my eyes very classic when I’m on the go, so I usually just bring a liquid eyeliner, and some mascara. I chose to bring this dual ended liquid eyeliner pen from Marcelle. It has a thicker end for basic lines, and a super thin end for a more detailed look. To finish up my eyes I use my CoverGirl mascara, called Flamed Out. I will be honest in saying that this is the only product I wasn’t completely familiar with, seeing as how I had just picked it up at Sears on sale. I noticed a bit of fall out when I was applying my makeup, with big clumps falling from the wand and onto my cheeks. I will look into this further with more testing.
